LAMAR – Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Lohmeyer Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar, for Gene F. Campbell, 76, 903 NE 10th Rd., Lamar, who died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday at Meadowbrook Manor following an illness. Rex Campbell will officiate.

The body has been cremated.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.

The family will be at 400 Broadway, Lamar.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. "Zee" Campbell; (names of living children have been omitted) three brothers, Russell E. "Ruc" Campbell, Springfield, (names of 2 living brothers and one sister have been omitted) nine grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Mr. Campbell was born April 2, 1918, in Jasper County and was a lifetime area resident, moving to Barton County in 1946. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1935 and received an Agricultural Degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1942. He taught on-the-farm training in the Liberal area for veterans returning from World War II, worked at the Lawn Boy plant in Lamar for three years, and was an innovative farmer and stockman.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Campbell was past commander of the Lamar American Legion ost #209, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, served on the Barton County Board of Soil and Water Conservation, Barton County Rural Water District, past president of the Missouri Rural Water Association, member of the National Rural Water Association, and was a Democratic Committeeman for the Newport Township for many years.

He married Mary E. "Zee" Baillie Feb. 1, 1942, at Maplewood.
