Born in Elmira, New York on November 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Claude & Margaret Sr. He served our country with the US ARMY during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of SP4. Prior to his retrement, he was employed as a mechanic for Panther Valley Carriers and previously worked in the same capacity for Schleicher's Trucking. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a former member of East Penn Sporting Club.
In his spare time he enjoyed camping and fishing with his loving family and riding his Harley Davidson Police Motorcycle. He was loved by all of his neighbors.
Survivng is a sister, Claudette, wife of Ed. Micheljohn of Mansfield, Pa. A brother, Keith West and his wife Ruth of Kentucky. 16 children: 8 daughters: Karen, Sue, Heather, Melissa, Crystal of Lehighton, Jenny of York, Beth wife of Willie Peters of Mill Hall,, Eileen Hontz of Lansford; 8 sons: Ken, Tom, Chip, Steven of Lehighton; Ron and Mike of Tamaqua; Scott and his wife, Kim of Colorado; Mark and his wife Cathy of Missouri; 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Lois Havidvogel.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3 at 11 am at the Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. 4th. Street, Lehighton. followed by internment with military honors under the directions of the Lehighton Area UVO in the Gnaden Huetten Cemetery, 4th and Union St. Lehighton. Call 9:30-11 am at the funeral home.
