She was born May 31, 1921 in Craigsville, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Franklin Thornton and Nancy Margaret Liptrap Thornton.
Margie was a lifelong homemaker, and a member of the Eastern Stars.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Reid of Hermitage, TN, and Michael Reid of Lyndhurst, VA; grandchildren, Michael Reid, Jr. of Athens, Georgia, Alicia Roberts of Jackson, TN, Amanda Bannister of Knoxville, TN, Amy Morris of Mt. Juliet, TN; great grandchildren, Owen, Reid, and Graham Bannister, Logan, Savannah, and Bailey Morris, Brayden, Nolan, and Harper Roberts, Noah Strout, and Cameron Luecke.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Reid; 4 brothers, Joe, John, Robert, and David Thornton; and a sister, Janie Horne.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Craigsville Community Cemetery with Pastor Claude Williams officiating.
Pallbearers will be members of her family.
