James Reuben Akin, age 79, of 5693 Highway 41 North, Vienna, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Cordele Health & Rehab in Cordele.

Born in Cordele, he was the son of the late John Shannon Akin and Edith Ivey Akin. Reuben served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Vienna First Baptist Church and served as a Deacon and had taught Sunday School.

Survivors:
Wife: Faye L. Akin of Vienna

Son: Tommy Akin of Fort Leavenworth, KS

Daughter: Monica Holman of Vienna

Brother: Shannon Akin of Vienna

Grandchildren: 4

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 6 in Vienna First Baptist Church. Interment with full military honors will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 6 in Andersonville National Cemetery.

The family will greet friends 6 - 8 PM Thursday, July 5 at the funeral home.
