Oren Wright was born Dec. 27, 1903, at the family's homestead in Ruston, Louisiana. He was the last survivor in his immediate family of six brothers and three sisters. He married Christine Wynns of Stephens, Arkansas in 1928 and they settled in Coffeyville, Kansas. Mr. Wright opened the "Pig Stand" in Coffeyville in 1929 and jointly operated that business with his wife until it was sold in 1945. It was a popular hangout, especially during World War II, when U.S. Air Force training bases were located in Coffeyville and Independence. Mr. Wright then opened a package liquor store in 1949 on East Eighth Street in Coffeyville after the repeal of prohibition. In 1953, he built a new store at 607 Union that was operated by their son, Robert Christopher Wright, since 1969. Mr. Wright planted and maintained a formal garden of about 200 hybrid tea roses at that Union Street location for several years. He had another hobby, which was fishing, that he continued to do until he was 90.

A prayer service was held at Moore's Rosewood Chapel, 2570 S. Harvard, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
