Frances Pewinski, 89, a 36-year resident of Almont and formerly from Sterling Heights, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2007, at Fair Acres Nursing Home in Armada. She was born March 3, 1918, in Roseville.
Mrs. Pewinski married Blaise Pewinski on October 16, 1948, at St Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica. She and her family were longtime members of St Matthias Catholic Church in Sterling Heights and then at St John Catholic Church in Allenton, where she was a member of its Altar Society. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and especially being with her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was well known for having eight children in six years with three sets of twins.

She is survived by her children, Ron (Sharon) of Washington Township, Rose Schweinof of Mount Clemens, Kathleen (Chuck) Rizor of Jonesboro, Ark., Ken (Margaret) of Clinton Township, Alice (Don) Kulza of Almont, Blaise (Andrea) of Capac, George of Lum and Jerry (Traci) of Almont; grandchildren, Shannon, Rose, Shawn, John, Jason, Jamie, Janelle, Robert, Angela, Kevin, Kelly, Blaise Jr., Laura, John, Jacob, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Wake, Katie, Ethan, Brooke, and Bethany and siblings, Joseph (Clara) Malburg of Ray Township, Eileen (Maurice) DÌhondt of Ray Township, Georgina (Don) Campbell of Bruce Township, Alice (Al) Sabbe of Washington Township and Grace (George) Debruyn of Armada Township.

She was predeceased by her husband, Blaise, on Jan. 25, 1968; parents, Henry C. and Alice (nee VanThomme) Malburg; son-in-law, Sandy Schweinof.; brothers, Leonard, Charles, Edward, and Henry Malburg; and sister, Evelyn VanPamel.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Catholic Church, Allenton, with the Rev. Wayne Ureel officiating. Burial will follow in West Berlin Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today and 2-9 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. rosary recital, at Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo.
