He was born in Lock Haven on Aug. 16, 1956, the son of the late Joseph E. and Evelyn Ertwine Swope.
Swopey was a 1975 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
He worked on his father's sawmill for many years. Swopey was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and going on mountain rides. He loved his trips to the grocery store with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren.
Swopey is survived by his wife of almost 14 years, Brenda D. Kinley Swope of Farrandsville; a son, David Swope, of Renovo; five daughters, Danyelle (David) Simcox, of North Bend, Terra Swope of Pittsburgh, Elaina Straub, of Farrandsville, Jennifer (Glenn) Ludwig of Ohio, and Karla Kinley of Lock Haven; six siblings, Jerry Swope, Sharon Youngblood, Beverly Anderson, Kim Watkins, Brenda Sunday and Nathaniel Swope; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Mincer and Jimmy Sunday.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa. 17745.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
