Alan F. Morrison, of North Hill Needham, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Skilled Nursing Facility at North Hill. He was 88 years old. Born in Brookline, he was the son of the late Norman Brooks Morrison and Jennie Frackelton Morrison. Mr. Morrison served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and graduate from Boston University with a degree in Psychology in 1949. In 1947 Alan married Joy Reycroft Hingston of Brookline and they were still happily married 67 years later at the time of his death. Mr. Morrison worked on the early development of the heart pacemaker as a manufacturer's representative for Medtronic Inc; he started the AF Morrison Co. and later Morrison Associates, endeavors which allowed him to provide for his wife and three children and to retire to Cape Cod in the mid-80's.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joy and their children Linda Morrison, William Morrison and Duncan Morrison, and was hopelessly devoted to their grandchildren Anna Purinton, Nathan Morrison and Rebecah Morrison.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Christ Episcopal Church, 1132 Highland Ave Needham, on Saturday, March 1st at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment is Private. A reception celebrating Alan's life will be held at North Hill, 865 Central Ave, Needham on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 PM.
