Byron Franklin “Skip” Murphy, 71, of Jonesboro passed from this life, Sunday, June 24, 2018 at his home. He was born December 18, 1946 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late James Franklin and Wilma Murphy. Skip was a retired US Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He had 30 years in service. Skip enjoyed shooting target practice and golfing.

Skip is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia Murphy of Jonesboro; 2 sons, Shawn (Gabrielle) Murphy of Pikeville, Kentucky; Michael Shane Murphy of Jonesboro; daughter, Joyce (Shane) Reed of Pikeville, Kentucky; 2 step sons, Chadwick (Rose) Banks of Jackson, Tennessee, Dustin (Brittany) Banks of Hixson, Tennessee and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Monday, July 2, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Chadwick Banks officiating and the Navy providing military honors.
