Patty Ann Richmond-Martin, age 79, of Glen Morgan, WV, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2018. She attended Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church on Airport Road in Beaver.
She was born on January 17, 1939 at Blue Jay, WV, to the late Wayne Osborne Richmond Sr. (1918-1998) and Pauline Madge Hart-Richmond (1918-2008). Patty was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Barbara Helen Richmond-Clower (1936-2017); and brothers, Gary Rexford Richmond (1948-2017) and Timothy "Tim" Osborne Richmond (1935-2017).
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years, Carlos Jennings Martin, Jr. (B. 1938) whom she married on May 13, 1961 in Skelton, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1961, Page 646, Application Date: May 10, 1961); her beloved son, Gregory Martin & wife Andrea Martin of Glen Morgan; brothers, Wayne Osborne Richmond Jr. and Roger Richmond; sisters, Janet Opal Richmond-Mann (B. 1941), Diana Lee Richmond-Barnett (B. 1942), and Karen Richmond-Hatcher; and her granddaughter, Katie Martin.
After graduating from Shady Spring High School, Patty worked at King Foto in Beckley, Gates Supply and Engineering, Beckley Newspaper, and for Dr. James Barnes at Beckley Medical Arts until his retirement at which time Patty retired too.
Patty was always smiling and laughing and brought joy to anyone around her. She never knew a stranger. She loved watching old movies and old westerns, raising flowers and working in her garden. Her smiles and laughter will be missed by everyone who knew her. The highlight of her life was her son, as anyone who knew her was aware.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, June 24, 2018, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church on Airport Road in Beaver. Funeral services will be conducted at Clifftop Church on Monday, June 25, 2018, at noon with Pastor Keith Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley.
