Joe Dan Morgan, 66, of Miami was called to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday morning, June 25, 2018 surrounded by his family. Joe Dan was born on October 23, 1951 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to James “Pete” and Pearl (Mason) Morgan. On June 6, 1975 Joe Dan married the love of his life, Kriss Sutton, in Miami. Joe worked his way through the ranks at the Miami Fire Department where he retired after twenty-eight years as Deputy Fire Chief. Soon after retirement he worked at the Welch Stockyards, was an ambulance dispatcher, and taught CPR to First Responders at the Vo-tech. He was preparing to retire from his current job as the Ottawa County Emergency Management Director. In his early years he enjoyed the adventure of being a bull rider and living the cowboy life. Throughout his life, he loved fishing, hunting, and teaching his children and grandchildren how to work, laugh, love, and serve God. He particularly treasured church work during the course of his life and was ordained as an elder last year. He was honored to baptize his oldest grandson recently and always looked for opportunities to spread the gospel. He helped build their congregation’s building at Whispering Hills Church of Christ thirty years ago. Joe Dan also made several trips to the Dominican Republic doing church work, learning Spanish, and developing strong friendships. Joe Dan Morgan is known for his servant spirit, kind heart, loyal nature, and a good friend to all while dedicating his time to saving lives and saving souls. He is loved and respected by many in the community and beyond. His much-loved father, Pete Morgan, preceded Joe in passing.

Those left behind to carry on his legacy are his true love of forty-three years Kriss Morgan of the home, his cherished children Tami Jo Lowery and her husband Michael, Mandi Sue Baker and her husband Dustin, and Joe Dale Morgan and his wife Holly all of Miami, his mother Pearl Morgan of Tahlequah, a brother Jim Morgan and his wife Brenda of Hulbert, Oklahoma, a sister Sherry Hullinger and her husband Jimmy of Tahlequah. Also surviving and desperately missing his presence are his grandchildren Seth Lowery (13), Mason Lowery (11), Joseph Daniel Lowery (7), Caleb Lowery (3) and Karsten Morgan (2), along with foster granddaughters Summer (2) and Rose (1).
