Television Personality. Best known as "The Old Man", he starred on the History Channel's reality television show "Pawn Stars", which debuted in 2009 and built a large viewship. Co-owner of the “World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop” in Las Vegas, Nevada, he appeared on the show with his son, Rick Harrison, and grandson, Corey Harrison. Although the show featured the buying and selling of unusual objects and artifacts, the bantering interaction between him and his family made the show popular with viewers, and was shown in 140 countries. Born in Danville, Virginia, his family moved to Lexington, North Carolina when he was a year old. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 in 1958 and retired after twenty years of service. He sold real estate in San Diego, California for a brief time prior to moving to Las Vegas and opening his first pawn shop in 1988 with an investment of $10,000.00.
