Peggy Ruth Cooper Neal, 79, passed away on May 4, 2018 at her residence in Walthall, Mississippi. She was born on August 4, 1939 to John Thomas and Maurine Neal.

Peggy graduated from Eupora High School and excelled in basketball. When she lived in Flint, Michigan she competed in the CANUSA Games where she won numerous medals in volleyball. She was also a great bowler. She was a member of the VFW #3087 Women’s Auxiliary. Her family remembers her as being an awesome cook, enjoying her work in her flower beds, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children James (Sylvia) Cooper, Jr. of Fenton, Michigan.; Jeff Cooper of Walthall, Mississippi, and Kelly Cooper of Linden, Michigan; brothers, Buddy (Betty) Neal of Grenada, Benny (Deborah) Neal of Walthall; a sister Mary Ruth Moore of Walthall; six grandchildren, Amber, Jessica, Bryan, Tommy, John, and Jordan; and great grandchildren, Cooper, Alexander, and Ava. She is also survived by her ex-husband Charles Cooper of Walthall who took care of her during her illness. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas and Maurine Neal; and her brother, Ray Neal.

Visitation will be Monday, May 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Services will be Monday, May 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Wise Reed Chapel Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Burial will be at North Union Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Mississippi.
