George F. Masters, age 82, of Burlingame, Kansas, died Sunday, September 8, 2013, at his son's home in Topeka, KS. He was born March 26, 1931, at Burlingame, KS the son of Thomas Henry and Emma Frances (Streeter) Masters.

George grew up in Burlingame, KS and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1948.

He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, serving in Germany. He worked for ESSEX Wire company, Topeka, from 1964 until he retired as a Foreman in 1996. He was a member of the Burlingame Federated Church, the Edward Ted Rowe VFW Post No 2709, Scranton, KS and the Osage County Country Club. He formerly was a member of the IOOF Lodge, Harveyville, KS.

He married Barbara (Jones) Moon, September 12, 1959. She preceded him in death April 19, 1986. He later married Margaret Magill in 1992. They later divorced. He married Wanona Holloway, June 1, 2009. She survives at the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Daniel T. Masters (June 17, 1978); and step-son, Howard E. Moon (April 19, 2011).

Survivors include his wife, Wanona Masters, Burlingame, KS; sons, George Masters II, Carbondale, KS; Scott (Tracy) Masters, Burlingame, KS; step-son, Thomas (Sharon) Moon, Topeka, KS; daughters Amber (Raymond) Hovestadt, Burlingame, KS; Becky (Matt) Young, Burlingame, KS; Shelia Hill, Harveyville, KS; sister, Anna Smith, Marion, IA; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

George was cremated at his request. Memorial service at the Burlingame Federated Church. Inurnment will follow in Burlingame Cemetery where a US Army Burial Detail will conduct Graveside Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Heart Association , and sent in care of Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, KS.
