Irena was aunt Irene's name when she was born. She changed her name when she arrived in the USA to fit in better. Irene, her parents Johann, Elizabeth and siblings Johanna, Peter, Albert and Erika immigrated to the United States on June 26, 1952. Port of Departure was Bremerhaven, Germany. Port of Arrival was New York, New York on the ship General Harry Taylor. Irene was 4 years old when they arrived in the United States. Irene received her U.S. Naturalization Record on August 14, 1964 from the U.S. District Court in Cleveland, Ohio.

Irene had two children: Kelly and Veronica.

Irene was a great aunt to her nieces and nephews. Irene loved to polka dance, took karate and was an artist. Irene took care of her mother Elizabeth when she was in her 80s (Oma lived until 97). Irene went shopping for her, took her to the see a doctor or to get her hair done. Her sister Erika was there to help with their mom when Elizabeth (Oma) needed someone to stay to help her around the house and to cook.

She is missed a lot by those who loved her!
