Ethel Jean (Carmack) Sharp, 75, of Union County died Monday, July 23, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Seven Pines, Kentucky to Abe and Etta (Hurst) Carmack on February 10, 1937. In 1944 her family moved to Liberty and she graduated from Union High School in College Corner in 1955.

Ethel earned both a Bachelors and a Masters Degree from Ball State University. On November 28, 1957 she married Carl J. Sharp, Sr. in Liberty Baptist Church. Ethel was an Educator for 28 years in several schools and age ranges. Starting in Kitchel and ending in Union County, she also taught at Union School in College Corner, in Dunlapsville and at Fayette Central. She was a charter member of Connersville Baptist Temple. In her free time she enjoyed quilting, sewing and being with her family.

Survivors include her husband; children and their spouses: Carl J. and Patti Sharp, Carola and Jan Antrim, Judi and Harry Painter all of Liberty; siblings: George and Beverly Carmack; Judy Cole and Don Hertel; and sister-in-law Peggy Carmack all of Liberty; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Joseph and Elesha Sharp of Shelbyville; Eric Sharp of Louisville; Maya and Steve Hughes of Liberty; Kayla and Trevor Shaffer of Centerville; Austin Antrim of New Martinsville, West Virginia; Amber Painter, Breann Painter, Caleb Painter all of Liberty; three great-grandchildren: Wyatt Sharp, Logan Hughes, and Aiden Hundley; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents; three brothers: Allen Carmack, Robert Carmack and Archie Carmack.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Connersville Baptist Temple with Pastor Tim Billups officiating; interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit on Thursday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the church where memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Foundation for the Ethel Sharp Scholarship Fund. Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
