Jamie J. Johnson 53, Oakland Park, FL., passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 3, 2017.

Jamie Jerome Depute was born on October 24, 1963 the son of Connie Depute in Minot, ND. Following the marriage of Connie to Marlyn Johnson, in 1964 Jamie and his siblings were adopted by Marlyn. The family lived in Berthold, ND, where he attended school and graduated from Berthold High School, where he was very active in the music programs throughout his school years. Jamie had a gift for music that was apparent from an early age and through his years in Berthold he shared his talents with the community through school, his church and giving piano lessons to many. Marlyn (Dad) put on a lot of miles driving him to piano lessons in Minot! After high school Jamie moved to Fargo, where he furthered his education by attending NDSU and was the organist at the St. Mary’s Cathedral, before moving to Minneapolis where he would make his home until his move to Florida 14 months ago.

Jamie was an active member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Jamie was involved in the music department playing piano, singing with the choir and being a soloist. He chaired the fish dinners during lent several times and made many pans of bars for it. Jamie was instrumental in starting and chairing the fall festivals, even convincing them to make salsa which eventually became a good fundraiser for the church. Jamie was very active in the Minneapolis Men’s Choir and he traveled with them out of the country. One of the highlights of his years with the choir was getting to sing at the Vatican in Rome.

During his years in Minneapolis Jamie worked at AT&T, Lucent Technologies, a subsidiary company of AT&T where he spent a lot of time traveling in Iowa. For the last few years Jamie was employed at the University of Minnesota where he worked in accounting for the Chemistry Department until he retired to Florida.

Jamie is survived by his loving family including; Sisters Cindy (Don) Torgrimson, Darcy Watts, , Jill (Jerry) Aarseth, Jodi (Lynn) Wright and Brothers Jeff (Diane) Johnson and Jon (Becky) Johnson, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jamie is also survived by many close friends, including Bill Cox and Chris Loy his housemates and his church family at St. Albert the Great.

Jamie was preceded in death by his parents Marlyn and Connie Johnson, grandparents William and Eva Depute, Leslie and Violet Taylor, and Martha Olson along with several aunts and uncles.
