Mr. Vance, born in Ronceverte, WV; was the son of the late Paul Gray Vance and Etta Blanche Bostic Vance. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Vance and sister, Betty Craft.
He graduated from Union High School, Union, WV. and attended Marshall University and graduated from No. Virginia Community College with a degree in Physical Science. He was a barber, Real Estate Realtor, Washington Post Distributor and mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
He married Barbara Jeanne Collins Vance on Jan. 8, 1966 in New Hope, WV.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, James Todd Vance of Chantilly, VA; and Douglas Wayne Vance and wife, Kari of Purcellville, VA. granddaughters, Kailee, Emily and Alison; sister, Joyce Pritt and numerous nieces and nephews.
