VANDERHORST, Janet A. Age 87, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 21, 2018 surrounded by her seven children and their spouses. Janet had 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Her beloved husband, Jerry, sister Joyce Schirack, and her parents, Albert and Hilda Rammel of Coldwater, Ohio, preceded her in death. Sisters Phyllis Crabill, Judy Herdman and brother, Gerry Rammel, survive her. Janet leaves a legacy of philanthropy: The VanderHorst Family Foundation, Robert Tobin Foundation, VanderHorst Penn Global scholarship, a major contributor to the University of Dayton and Janet's beloved Jerry & Janet's House, which provides permanent supportive housing to the mentally ill in Southwest Florida. Janet changed lives and her philanthropy reflected her strong Christian beliefs. A private ceremony in Naples, Florida will precede a celebration of Janet's life in her beloved Dayton, Ohio next spring. She will be missed but certainly not forgotten.
