Frederick Martin Bennett, Jr., 70, of New Kent County passed away Friday, June 15, 2018.
He was an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star Medal and two Air Medals for outstanding meritorious service. Fred’s citation accompanying the Bronze Star said that his loyalty, diligence and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflected great credit upon him and the United States Army. He served his country from 1967 to 1970 with the 1st squadron 9th Calvary as a helicopter gunner and finished his military career as an instructor at Ft Eustis.

Fred was a devoted member and deacon of the York River Baptist Church where he was also a Sunday school teacher. He served as a Gideon and taught Bible study at Henrico County Jail. He was the original owner/operator of Kar Doctor, a mobile mechanic service in Williamsburg, VA. His favorite pastime was riding his Harley Davidson.

He was preceded in death by his father Frederick Martin Bennett, Sr; a son Sean Bennett; two sisters Nancy Stewart and Donna Klienmeyer and a brother Arthur Bennett.

Fred is survived by his wife of 51 years June Bennett; his mother Catherine Bennett; two daughters Renee Bennett Porter (Paul) and Lanee Bennett Jones (Tommy); a son Scott Bennett; and was a proud Papa to six grandchildren Nathan, Anthony, Brandon, Christopher, Chelsea and Amber; five great-grandchildren Savannah, Madison, Liam, Aiden and Jase.
