Shortly after their marriage they relocated to Chicago, IL.

After the passing of his wife on January 16th 1998 he relocated from Dixmoor, IL to Kalamazoo, MI to be closer to his sisters.

He retired from United Food in 1995 and spent his retirement years traveling, fishing and spending time with his children, grand children, great grand children, family and friends.

He loved to travel preferably by car, whether it was back to Chicago, Tennessee or all the way to Virginia, he often joked about the time it took him to reach his destinations. He was truly a jokester and his laughter was infectious. He had immeasurable knowledge of repairing automobiles and enjoyed teaching and helping others repair their automobiles. He also was well-skilled at gardening every year like clock work he planted tomatoes in his garden. He loved tomatoes and Thousand Island Salad Dressing.

Lastly; he was a praying man with great faith. He dedicated his life to Lord in 2005 and was Baptized March 6th 2005 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, MI by Pastor J. Louis Felton, of which they shared a mutual respect and adoration for each other. He trusted the Lord with all of his heart and leaned not to his own understanding and God certainly directed his steps.
