Dr. Raymond A. Herrington

Funeral services for Raymond A. Herrington were held Thursday, September 2 from Macedonia Baptist Church. Rev. Paul Blanchard, Rev. Arnold Davis and Rev. Grady Crowell officiated.

Dr. Herrington, 81, died August 31 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a graduate of New Ireland High School, Union; then attended Clarke College; received his BD degree in 1950 and his ThD degree in 1958, both from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary; served eight years teaching in Mississippi Baptist Seminary and Seminary Extension Centers; served for 10 years as Director of Missions for Winston Baptist Association; and was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Louisville for 10 years. He served Winston Baptist Church for 12 years and served as pastor at many churches in Mississippi for over 60 years. Dr. Herrington was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Herrington.

Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Mable Herrington of Louisville; one daughter, Donna Shepherd Weatherford, TX; one son, Russell Herrington of El Paso, TX; six sisters, Edna White of Dunn, LA, Frances Strickland and Aldie Bustin, both of Union, Earline Hurtt and Pauline Barrett, both of Forest, and Bobbie Herrington of Pearl; one brother, James Herrington of Union; and four grandchildren.
