Sammie Lee Biffle of Jonesboro, died Thursday December 13, 2001 at the age of 80 after a lengthy illness of cancer. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 15, 2001 at Tara Garden Chapel. Interment, Sherwood Memorial Park. Rev. Derrell D. Hudgins officiating.
Mr. Biffle was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Atlanta Journal Constitution in August, 1996. Surviving family members are his wife Elsie Huey Biffle of Jonesboro; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Donna Biffle , Hampton; daughter and son-in-law, Anita (Susie) and Paul Mathews, Fayetteville; sisters, Ethel Torbush, Scottdale, Jean Taylor, Lithonia, Margaret Compton, Evans; brothers, Henry Biffle , Norcross, Robert Biffle , Scottdale, Homer Biffle , Lithonia; grandchildren, Kreg Biffle , Kendra Biffle Hughes, Kevin Mathews, Kerri Mathews; great-grandchildren, Anslee Biffle and Payton Mathews. Mr. Biffle is preceded in death by two brothers, John S. Biffle and James Edward Biffle .
