Peggy was born March 16, 1931 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Tom P. and Mattie Lee (Via) Pettie. On July 30, 1949, in Niles, Peggy married William J. French and he passed away March 30, 2018. Peggy was also preceded in death by a 3-year-old baby brother, Woodrom Pettie.
Peggy is survived by children, Theresa (Ray) Besch of Peachtree City, GA, Jeannette (Jim) Nash of Portage, MI, Joseph (Milly) French of Buchanan, MI, Anthony (Sharon) French of Plainwell, MI, Catherine (R.B.) Morton of Dowagiac, MI, Paul French of Niles, MI, and Elizabeth (Scott) Campbell of South Bend, IN; 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; half-sister, Margie Skinner of Niles, MI; and half-brothers, Bill Hall of Buchanan, MI, Bob Hall of Keiser, AR, and Thomas Dale Pettie of Corinth, MS.
Peggy also thought of her family as her greatest achievement and loved spending time with all of them. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed garage sales, finding bargains and Sunday drives.
Visitation will be 2-4pm on Sunday, June 24, 2018 in HALBRITTER WICKENS FUNERAL HOME, 615 E. Main St., Niles, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, June 25, 2018 in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
