Ginger was born in Huron, South Dakota in 1930. She graduated high school there and spent a brief time at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion before moving to Minneapolis, where she met and fell in love with John. After marrying and living in Hopkins, Minnesota, they moved their family to Des Moines, Iowa, where they raised their daughters. John and Ginger moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1977, and eventually to Overland Park, Kansas. Despite distances, Ginger remained very close to her siblings and their children. Ginger made many friends along the way, but the oldest friends were the most important. They always stayed in close contact with long, wonderful letters and were treasured.
Ginger loved to laugh, and she was quick to be silly. She had many funny little ways about her- like calling microfiber fabric Microsoft! She called Facebook Face Plant! There are so many of these isms that her family will always remember. She was HILARIOUS! Ginger always had time for a hug and a smile.
