Bob was born in Woosung, IL to John and Sadie (Farster) Houck. He married Ruth Marshall on 31 Dec 1960 in LeClaire, IA. She died 17 Oct 2009. His greatest joys came in sharing his loving, kindness to children; and especially his two granddaughters, Sadie and Vivian. Bob was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Lawrence & Sons Contracting for over 40 years. He retired in 1993.
Bob served his country proudly as a Sergeant in U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a 50 year member of the Sterling American Legion and a lifetime member of Local 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Bob enjoyed a lifetime of bowling and was known for his woodworking skills. e built a replica of a steam engine and caboose from wood. He built many triangle boxes to hold the casket flags for veterans.
Survivors include two daughters; two sisters; four brothers; and two granddaughters.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; five sisters, Mary, Darlene, Dorothy, Janet, and Pat; and one brother, Ber.
