In addition, her service includes active membership in a number of local and national organization in the communities in which she resided, including the National Education Association, Alpha Delta Kappa, A.B.W.A. and the Aurora Actionaires.

Ernestine and Count Hill were wed more than 54 years ago on January 10, 1953, in the Tuskegee Institute Chapel, Tuskegee Institute Alabama. To this union three children were born, Lloyd Lynell (Diana), Judy Caryl and Elonda Gail Hill. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Thomas W. and Curley J. Collins Evans; a daughter, Elonda Gail Hill; four brothers, Lynell, Frank, Thomas (Willie Pearl), and Henry (Mary Frank) Evans; a nephew, Robert Evans; and a niece, Janet (Glen) Ray.
