She was born February 15, 1931 to the late Press Lewis Day and Ada Day.
Doris grew up in a large family, seven girls and three boys, all from North Wilkesboro.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved gardening, flowers, and the variety of song birds.
She worked for over 20 years at Union Cross Elementary School in the school cafeteria, where her son also went to elementary school.
Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska, after her husband was discharged from the military, they then transferred their membership to Salem Baptist Church in Winston Salem, and later attended Gospel Light Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Allen Taylor.
Surviving are her loving husband, Glenn Taylor; her son, Mel Glenn Taylor (Jan); three granddaughters, Marie McMillian, Kelly West, Kristin Cordes; one grandson, Zachary Taylor (Sun). She is blessed with twelve great grandchildren.
A service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
