Travis M. Campbell passed away at his home on June 15, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on June 30, 1940 to Dorothy Barrett and Travis Wiley Glover.  At the age of 10, Travis was adopted by Coyle A. Campbell who had married Dorothy.

Travis was raised in the Baptist Church and was faithful to his religious upbringing. During his school years he was active in sports, excelling in football and baseball.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing and raising cattle.

On July 10, 1958, Travis began basic training in the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonardwood, MO.  He attended jump school at Ft. Bragg, NC., earning his parachutist badge and was assigned to the “All American” 82nd Airborne squadron.  Travis was stationed for 13 months duty in Okinawa, Japan.  He was discharged on July 20, 1961 to reserve status.  On December 2, 1961, Travis was redrafted due to the Cuban crisis, was stationed in Ft. Polk, LA., and was discharged on August 7, 1962 .  Service to his country was always a source of pride.

For over 57 years of his life, Travis worked in various jobs in the area, from oilfield to refineries, including Coastal States Refinery and Reynolds Metals Company. Lastly, he worked 7 years for the State of Texas, TDCJ division.

Travis is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra, his children, Travis Jr., Suzanne Banfield (Brett), Brian, Jason (Tiffany), 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19,2018 from 6-8pm. at Sawyer George Funeral Home and chapel services, June 20, 2018 at 12:30pm at Sawyer George Funeral Home with Brother Robert Simmons officiating.  Military Honors 2:00pm at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
