Carol Black, 81, of Littlefield died July 4, 2015 at the Harmonee House in Amherst.
Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a graduate of Amherst High School where she enjoyed and excelled at playing basketball. After graduation she attended business school in Lubbock. She then worked many years at Security State Bank in Littlefield, where she made life long friendships with many of her co-workers and customers. In 1976, she and her husband Sedell pursued their dream of opening a restaurant, Classic Pizza in Littlefield. Carol was a hard worker and together she and Sedell went on to open several other restaurants in Littlefield.
Carol was proud of her family. She and Sedell raised two sons to whom they enjoyed giving moral support throughout their education at Littlefield High School. She was a member of the Band Boosters, and encouraged Connie and Stacy to set big goals and follow them.
Travel and adventure were some of Carol’s loves. She planned many family trips across the world, and was always up for a vacation with friends. Some of her favorite travel destinations were San Francisco, Nova Scotia, Canada, Switzerland, and any RV park where she could enjoy vast fields of wildflowers, especially vibrant Texas Bluebonnets in the spring.
Carol was also a big country music fan, especially George Strait and Waylon Jennings. She and her girlfriends who were members of the Young Musicians Fan Club would travel far and wide to attend their live concerts.
She will be greatly missed for her fun-loving personality, her Texas flair, to her kind and loving spirit.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Hubert and Faye Sawyer; and 2 brothers, Leroy Sawyer and Charlie Sawyer.
Carol is survived by her husband and best friend, Sedell Black; 2 sons, Connie Black and wife Jan, and Stacy Black and wife Dr. Birgit Black; 4 grandchildren, Dr. Hannah Spacek, Sarah Black, Alexander Black, and Carolina Black; and her brother, Sam Sawyer and wife Penny.
