Rebecca Ercelle Deyo Byrd entered into eternal rest on June 12, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital. She was born June 5, 1926 to Rebecca Ann Vessels and Richard Devoy Deyo in Caroline County, Va. Ercelle was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Melvin O. Byrd Jr. (Blootsy); her sister, Madge Richards Blair (Robert) and brothers Richard B. (Bessie), Russel B. and Boyd D. Deyo. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Joyce Byrd Cofield of Arlington, Va.; her son, Melvin O. Byrd lll (Barbara Brown) of King and Queen, Va.; her granddaughter, Nicole Cofield Law (Anthony) of High Point, N.C.; her grandsons, Melvin O. Byrd IV of Bowling Green, Va. and Jerry Brown (Liz) of Germantown, Md.; her great-grandchildren, Alexsandra (Lexi) Law and Austin Brown; two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Deyo of Bowling Green, Va. and Louise Deyo of Blainesburg, Md.; nieces, nephews, cousin, friends and her St. Stephens Baptist Church family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June, 23, 2018 at St. Stephens Baptist Church, 29436 Sparta Road, (Central Point), Milford, VA 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Chaplain Colonel (RET) Marvin L. Mills Sr. of Mullica Hill, New Jersey will deliver the eulogy with Pastor Michael Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
