Maxine Martin, 96, of Paragould, AR, passed away Tuesday at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was a retired receptionist, a member of the SR BEES, loved people and was of the Baptist faith. Maxine was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ella Dickerson Smelser. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tean Cummins and Boyd Martin; sisters, Eula Ford, Erie Green, Zuline Hooker, Marie McGarraugh, Mary Smelser and Faye Partlow; brothers, Bruce Smelser, Bert Smelser, and Thomas Smelser. Special thanks to the staff of Chateau on the Ridge past and present, the McGarraugh girls, Dennis and Janie Smelser, and all the other the others who helped care for Maxine (you know who you are).
Survivors include daughter, Marieda Cummins Fern; granddaughter, Kim Janes Reynolds; great-granddaughter Whitney Reynolds all of IL.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 - 1:00 pm with the service beginning at 1:00 in the chapel of Heath Funeral Home with Ken Hoppe officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Rick Smelser, Cal Newsom and Ryan Robeson.
