Jerry Jesse Hudson was born March 22, 1946, in Houston, and entered Heaven’s gates Thursday, March 23, 2018, in Normangee. Honorary pallbearers were David Becker, Jim Caldwell, Jim Davis, Billy Farris, Travis Kankey, Ray Reding, Larry Dyer, Mark Dyer, Chuck Heath, Jeff Dyer, Greg Hudson and David Baker. Jerry grew up in Normangee and moved to Houston in 1966. He started working for Brown and Root in the construction of the Sheldon paper mill, where he worked until he retired in 2003. He moved back home to Normangee to do what he loved — ranching and taking care of the home place, which has been in the family for many years. He was involved with the Ten Mile Cemetery Association, First Baptist Church of Madisonville, Madisonville Mustang Athletics and Madison County Fair Association. One of Jerry’s greatest joys was volunteering at the Pathway of Lights each year during Christmas. He cherished times with family spent on “The Hill,” which he considered his heaven on earth; during Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Jerry was preceded in death by both of his parents, Jesse and Lillis Hudson; brothers, Tom and Kenneth Hudson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bo and Melba Dyer; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Dyer and wife, Myra and Jerry Dyer. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Ann Dyer Hudson; daughter, Sheri Hudson Ritchie and husband, Raymond; son, Ron Hudson and wife, Sara; daughter, Becky Hudson Stack and husband, Chris; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Morse and husband, John, Tiffany Buntion and husband, Cody, Brittany “Pooh” Vick and husband, Travis, Thomas L. Hudson, Will Hudson, Hunter Stack, Rayce Hudson and Tyler Stack; five great-granddaughters, Macie Morse, Tatum Buntion, Gracie Morse, Eastyn Buntion and Avery Vick; brother, Leon Hudson and wife, Odessa; sisters-in-law, Mary and Louise Hudson and Joyce Dyer and Nina Dyer; brother-in-law, Wayne Dyer; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ten Mile Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 216, Normangee, TX 77871. Arrangements were under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. www.madisonvillefuneralhome.com.
