Duane Lee Peterson passed away June 15, 2018, at the age of 96 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born January 23, 1922, in Tygee, Idaho to J. Lee Peterson and Francis May Rigby. He attended a one-room school in Tygee, Id, and later the Central Utah Vocational School. He married Dora Lue Edlund on February 14, 1944, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they raised 5 children. Duane enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was part of the greatest generation having served in WWII. He as very artistic and painted many beautiful paintings. He was also an accomplished photographer. Duane and Dora enjoyed traveling the entire continental US as well as Hawaii. They even drove the Alaskan Highway to visit family in Anchorage, AK. He served in BSA many years as a scoutmaster. His life was an example of Christ-like service to his family and friends. Duane is survived by his children Dixie (Ben) Walker, Scott (Sheila) Peterson, L.D. (Becky) Peterson, Janeene (Clint) Galbraith, and Dal (Trudy) Peterson, his sister, Marla (Val) Anderson and sister-in-law, Clarice Peterson, 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT from 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 22, 2018, at 12:00 noon with a viewing prior to the service from 10:45-11:45 AM at Highland Park LDS Ward, 2535 Douglas St, Salt Lake City, UT 84106. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
