Frances Locke Rankin, 71, of Lincolnville, died June 21, 2013, at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast. Born in Portland May 23, 1942, she was the daughter of James and Arline (Gray) Locke. She was a graduate of Bucksport High School and married Wayne G. Rankin March 29, 1963, in Belfast. They lived in Vermont for seven years and returned to Maine in 1974, settling in Lincolnville.

Frances enjoyed taking care of children in her home for a number of years and was a member of Tops and the Lincolnville Women's Group. She always volunteered to help at any local event or community function. Her hobbies included knitting, braiding rugs and crocheting.

Surviving is her husband, Wayne G. Rankin of Lincolnville; her mother, Arline Locke of Bangor; a sister, Joanne Pelkey and her husband, Frank, of Oklahoma; a sister in-law, Nancy Griffin of Virginia; nephews and nieces, Mark Davenport and his wife, Jennifer, Amy Davenport, Eric Pelkey, Rachel Locke, Laura Fernald, Chrystel Hill, and all their children whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her brothers, David Locke and Barry Locke; and a sister, Sharon Betts.
