Of Spokane Valley went to be with his Lord on April 30, 2018. He was born in Nez Perce, Idaho on May 8, 1926 to Duke and Jean (Shelburn) Farrar. "Dewey" is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 70 years, Joyce Franke, son, Steve Farrar, daughter, Suzanne Savall, sister, Geraldine McDaneld, grandchildren, Tara Weerakkody, Zeveri Farrar, and Jenna Minniti, great-grandchild Mila Farrar, and extended family.
A WWII Navy Veteran, he served his country as a radio man on the CK Bronson Destroyer until 1946. Shortly after returning, he was hired by the Washington Water Power, earning several advance- ments during his 40 year career, finishing as the Moscow district manager before retiring to live on the Oregon Coast. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, garden and play his trumpet in dance bands and the Eagles Marching Band. He volunteered at his daughter's school, Otis Orchards Elementary, for 18 years, as a tutor and attended all Veterans Day assemblies sharing his Navy stories with students and families.
Dewey's celebration of life memorial will be held on July 9th at 1:00p.m at the Evergreen Fountains Retirement Home, 1201 N. Evergreen Road. The service will be held in the chapel followed by a gathering in the Cabaret room. His final place of rest will be at the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery after a private family service. Donations may be made to Spokane Honor Flight.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, stlll loved, still missed and very dear.
