Mrs. Parsons is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Parsons, her parents, Bill and Ruth Kleinen, and her sister, Carol Johnson. She is survived by her children, daughter Susan Parsons and son Ryan Parsons (wife Michele Parsons); grand-children, Kelsey, Katelyn and Bradley; brother-in-laws, David Johnson and John Parsons (wife Marian Parsons), sister-in-law Sharon Parsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley grew up in Yolo County's Capay Valley on her family's almond ranch in Ramsey. She graduated from Esparto High School in 1956 and attended Heald Business College. Shirley and Joe met at the University of California at Davis (UCD) and they married in 1960. She worked as a librarian for the Dixon Unified School District and was a digital archivist for the Dixon Public Library.
Shirley enjoyed her activities with the Dixon United Methodist Church, the Dixon Historical Society, the Women's Improvement Club, Solano County Genealogical Society and the PG&E Ready Rovers RV group. Her favorite past times included visiting close friends in Washington and Maine, traveling, camping, gardening and home improvements.
A celebration of Shirley Parsons' life will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 27 at the Dixon United Methodist Church, 209 North Jefferson Syl, Dixon. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
