Kenneth Lawrence Maxwell passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 64 years of age. He was born to Roland Maxwell and Maxine Jackson Maxwell on January 20, 1954 in Dallas, Texas.

Ken spent the majority of his youth in Fort Worth, Texas, where he graduated from Paschal High School in 1972. His athleticism earned him a scholarship to Southern Methodist University, where he played football during his earlier college years. He eventually found himself at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1980 and, later, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995. He started his career in the semiconductor industry working with Texas Instruments and the Intel Corporation, where he played a key role in the startup of the manufacturing plant in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was in Albuquerque where he met and married his wife, Jenise Risinger, on May 4, 1985, beginning a loving and beautiful relationship. He later worked for Sematech and Applied Materials in Austin, Texas. He was the co-owner and winemaker at Torre di Pietra Vineyards in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Ken truly characterized what it meant to be a compassionate friend, a deeply loving father, an affectionate husband, and a powerfully motivated dreamer. He worked tirelessly to provide his family with boundless love and support, while simultaneously exemplifying the arduous efforts of a successful businessman. To his friends was shown a vibrant and caring personality that will forever be associated with good times. To his family was shown a heart full of affection, emotion, and warmth that acts as a beautiful memory for what it means to be a person truly dedicated to his family. To his kids was shown the unparalleled strength, love, and passion necessary to overcome the many life-obstacles that lie ahead, in hopes that they can replicate and share the same multi-faceted success that he found. To his wife was shown the extraordinary opportunity of being able to share a love with someone that reaches farther and deeper than any other, and that which is most truly profound. Ken will be dearly missed, but we find solace knowing that his spirit is resting peacefully.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jenise Risinger Maxwell of Fredericksburg; two sons, two daughters and spouses: Ben and Donna Maxwell of Doss, Texas; Kaitlyn Maxwell of Austin, Texas; Sarah Maxwell of Paris, France; Matthew Maxwell of Austin, Texas; granddaughter, Nicole Maxwell; grandson, Liam Maxwell; sister, Cindy Robbins of Greensboro, North Carolina; brother, Stephen Maxwell of Fort Worth, Texas; and father-in-law, Don Risinger of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Our family would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all of the relatives and friends that have provided so much support during this difficult time; being surrounded by such people is truly a gift that we are eternally grateful for. We would also like to thank the hospital staff and emergency responders for their great efforts in making Ken’s transition a peaceful one.

A celebration of his life will be held at Torre di Pietra Winery, 10915 E US Highway 290, Fredericksburg, TX 78624 on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the following organizations: the American Heart Association, the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas, and the Texas Hill Country Scholarship fund for Texas viticulture and enology students in Ken Maxwell’s name (checks can be sent to THCW, P.O. Box 96, Johnson City, TX 78636 with the memo as Ken Maxwell).
