Born Aug. 26, 1919, in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, she was the daughter of the late Silas Alfred and Celia Elizabeth (Newman) Wilt. Her family moved to Huntingdon when she was an infant. She was united in marriage to James H. Longenecker Sept. 30, 1950, at Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon. Mr. Longenecker preceded her in death Nov. 21, 2003.
Mrs. Longenecker is survived by a daughter, Debra L. Garman and husband, Robert, of Petersburg; and a grandson, James R. Garman of Jacksonville, Florida.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha E. Parks; and a brother, Samuel A. Wilt. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Longenecker was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon.
She was a member of the Pennsylvania Grange, the Petersburg Homemakers and the Standing Stone Senior Citizens.
Mr s . Longen ecker worked as a regi stered medical secretary for Dr. Mainzer, Dr. Croft and Dr. Oakman. She also worked in the lab at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and at the former Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Huntingdon.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Longenecker was an avid reader, liked doing puzzle books, feeding birds and enjoying nature.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
