OBITUARY...
Last Roll Sounded for Veteran -- A Long Life Ended.

At 8:30 o'clock Saturday evening, Simon H. Walser, one of the oldest and best known farmers of this vicinity, died at this home near Curtisville from the infirmities incident to old age. The funeral was held this afternoon at the Friends Church at Curtisville, the Rev. Polly Couch officiating. Interment was at the cemetery of that place.

Civil War Veteran.
The deceased was born on January 23, 1830 and died at the age of 81 years. He was married in 1860; but at the beginning of the war, he left his bride and entered the service. He was a member of the 7th Indiana and remained in the service to the end, being in some of the hardest fought battles. He was a brave soldier, always remembering with pride the fact that he had fought in the defense of his country. In all Indiana, a more patriotic man could not be found.

A Pioneer Resident.
A quarter of a century ago, he purchased the farm near Curtisville, at which place he lived until his death. To him and his wife, seven boys and four girls were born, six of the sons and two of the daughters still survive. Mrs. Walser preceded her husband to the grave several years ago. The deceased was a good man, respected by all who knew him, and his demise will be deeply mourned by a large host of friends and relatives.
