BRANDON, VT. - Stephen Arthur Petty, of 7 Case Street in Brandon, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

He was born on March 27th 1948 in Middlebury, Vt., he was the son of Arthur Warren and Priscilla Olive (Brink) Petty.

He grew up in Brandon, Vt. where he received his early education. He graduated from Otter Valley Union High School Class of 1966.

Following graduation, he joined the United States Army.

He served two tours of duty in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged as a Specialists 5th. Class, in April of 1970.

He married Susan Jeanne Murtagh on June 6th 1970 at St. Augustine's Church in Montpelier, Vermont. They Divorced on July 7th 1982 in Vermont.

He had worked in the Maintenance Department at the Vermont Police Academy for over 25 years, retiring in 1996.

He enjoyed old cars, auctions and tinkering with anything mechanical.

He was a member of Brandon American Legion Post #55.

He was predeceased by his parents; his father Arthur Petty in 1962 and his mother Priscilla Petty on April 19th 2008, and one sister; Ann Marie Petty on September 6th 1947.

A private graveside service was held on Tuesday, June 26th 2018 at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon, Vt.
