Graveside Services for Lois G. Gibson, age 93, of Brier Hill, will be held on Friday (June 22, 2018) at 10:00 a.m. at the Ingham Cemetery in Brier Hill with Rev. Joseph Wilder officiating. Her family will receive friends at the cemetery from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the graveside service.

Surviving are her children, Craig Lowery of Niverville, Caryn (Ronny) Moore of Kinderhook NY and Lisa Gibson Secor of Watervliet; a brother, Earl Johnston & his fiancé Mary Lou Witherell of Heuvelton; grandchildren Justin (Erica) Lowery, Sarah (Rex) Hanford, Hannah (Justin) Nossa, Azurah Lowery, Elsah Lowery, Heather (Ryan) Niver, Abigail (Justin) Jacon, Katelyn Secor, Cassie Secor; and great-grandchildren Lila & Olivia Hanford, Joslyn & Zeke Nossa, Zoe & Corvus Niver.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Keith Lowery on Jan 22, 1955; her second husband, Gerald Gibson on June 30, 1998; a daughter, Lianne Gibson in 2008; brothers Murray, Lauris & Lyle Johnston; two sisters, Rose Tremain & Winnie Beckstead; and two grandchildren, Rebekah & Joshua Lowery.

Lois was born on October 31, 1924 in Winchester Ontario Canada, a daughter of the late Robert & Lillie (Barkley) Johnston. She attended Fish Creek Grade School, graduated from Heuvelton Central in 1942 and the A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing in 1945. On January 23, 1946 she married Keith Lowery at the Chipman Manse. The couple lived in Oakland CA where she worked at the Oakland Bay Hospital while he was enlisted in the service. Following Keith’s military discharge, the couple relocated back to the North Country where they lived in DePeyster, and later on the Atwood Road in Brier Hill until his death in 1955. She again found love and was remarried to Gerald L. Gibson on June 4, 1955 at the Brasher Falls Methodist Church.

Through the years she worked as a nurse in California, the A. Barton Hospital, and the United Helpers Cedars Nursing Home until the early 1970’s when she retired. She enjoyed her flowers & vegetable gardens, quilting, sewing, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family.

She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Stars in Morristown, First Congregational Church of Morristown and a former member of the Election Board. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ingham Cemetery Association.
