James “Jim” Sterling, Jr., 88, of Woodville, passed away, Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his residence.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Campground Cemetery in Woodville with burial in Campground Cemetery. Officiating will be Brother Mark Tolar and Jessie Clarke. Serving as pallbearers will be Dana Weldon, Rudy Weldon, Kevin Weldon, David Ashworth, James Hays and Robert McMillan.

Jim was born May 7, 1930 to James Sr. & Falbie Willson Sterling in Beaumont, Texas. He had lived in Woodville since 1969 and was retired from International Paper Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodville and the USS Orleck Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. & Falbie Sterling; sisters, Helen Sterling and Verna Mae McElvain.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ann Sterling of Woodville; sons, Kyle Sterling of Corrigan and David Sterling & wife, Carol of Katy; daughters, Dr. Kellie Smith & husband, Jay of Chireno and Paula Standley & husband, George of Colmesneil; stepson, David Ashworth & wife, Maria of Richmond; stepdaughters, Cindy Vaughn & husband, Hugh of Kerrville and Lisa Best & husband, Lee of Colorado Springs, CO; 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
