Sherwood F. Anderson, 79, of Amarillo passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Hillside Christian Church West Campus with Pastor Larry Miles officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home.
Sherwood was born on March 9, 1939 in Covington, KY to Sherwood Sr. and Grace Anderson. As a child, he moved to Reading, Ohio where he graduated high school before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1958. There he proudly served 4 years until his honorable discharge as Airman 1st Class. On Decemeber 16, 1961, Sherwood married the love of his life, Loveta Houdashell in Hedley, TX. Upon his discharge from military service, he began his career in office equipement repair and sales. He worked for Pitney Bowes for many years before purchasing Amarillo Office Machines in 1984, retiring in 2000.
Sherwood was charismatic and carefree by nature. He loved the outdoors, spending much time at the lake, fishing with family and friends. He enjoyed weekly card games with his friends and was dubbed "Andy" by those who loved him most. Above all, he loved his family and friends immensely and cherished time spent with them.
He is survived by his wife, Loveta Anderson; son, Mark Anderson; 2 daughters, Charlotte Lookingbill and husband Brad and Denita Montes and husband Paul; 5 grandchildren, Traci, Amy, Aaron, Destiny and Hunter as well as his close friend, Hugh Bledsoe, all of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Karl Anderson.
