Audrey Otillea Ganske, 93 of Nampa, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Streamside Assisted Living in Nampa.

A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the College Church of the Nazarene, 504 E. Dewey Ave. Burial will follow at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So.

Audrey was born on March 7, 1921 to John and Lillian Murphy at their home in Harvard, ID. She was the third of five children. She spent her early life in various communities in the Inland Empire and would refer to Pullman, Washington as her home town. It was in Pullman that she met and married her husband Merton. They were married 69 years until his death in 2009. Following Merton’s death she continued to live in the house they designed and had built in 1993 in Nampa. After leaving Pullman, they moved to Umatilla, OR where Merton was employed at the Ordinance Munitions Depot and then they moved for a short time to Burbank, CA before settling in Portland, OR. It was in Portland they raised their family. Audrey loved to grow flowers and roses. In 2005 she received the Good Neighbor Award for her flower garden from the Idaho Garden Club. Even last month she wanted to get her hands in the dirt. Audrey baked many cookies over the years and enjoyed welcoming guests and new neighbors with “would you like a cookie.” Audrey loved to be around children and for many years taught children’s Sunday School classes. She was an active church member serving on boards, working on yard maintenance teams and missions councils. Audrey will be remembered by many for caring for the needs of individuals. She could empathize with the hurting and care for the weak. She never sought the light of attention or reward for her deeds. She will be remembered as caring, loving, faithful and fiercely loyal to family, neighbors and friends.

The family is grateful for the care and concern of the staff of Streamside Assisted Living in Nampa where she resided this past year and to First Choice Hospice for their outstanding display of compassion in her last weeks.

Audrey is survived by her three children, Gary and Karen Ganske of Nampa, Ellen Rupp of Portland and Sharie Gallup of Aloha, OR, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and her youngest sister Lois Shippentower of Hermiston, OR.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Hands of Hope, Northwest at 1201 South Powerline Road, Nampa, ID 83686 or the Ganske Mathematics Scholarship at Northwest Nazarene University, 623 So. University Blvd., Nampa, ID 83686.
