Shirley Darlene Peden, 81, formerly of Roswell, NM passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis with her beloved sisters near by. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Muffley Funeral Home Chapel, 1430 Thornton, Clovis, NM, with Clyde Davis officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, 2605 E. 19th Street, Roswell, NM. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Shirley was born August 9, 1936 in Morton, TX to Forrest Shipp and Mattie Dewbre Shipp. She married Dale Peden in Artesia, NM in 1954. Shirley worked 25 years at Safeway Grocery stores, retiring as Department Manager in 1988. She loved playing cards, sewing, being outdoors, and taking care of family. Her family will always remember her as a bright star shining bright....guiding us by her example that life is meant to be lived.... you are never to old to play like a kid, always choose to dance and be the life of the party!
Survivors include: her niece; Rhonda (Bill) Bargman of Clovis, NM, two brothers; Sammy Billington of Dallas, TX and Danny Billington of Big Springs, TX, two sisters; Glenda Ewing of Hobbs, NM and Kay Trotter of Roswell, NM, five sisters-in-law; Kathy Billington, Bobbie Shipp, Connie Billington, Sharon Billington and Janie Givens, a daughter; Juliette Dees of Roswell, NM, three grandchildren; Jasmine, Aurora, and Leland, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Forrest Shipp and Mattie Billington and son; Kevin Peden, husband; Dale Peden, and four brothers; Jackie Shipp, Billy Shipp, Grady Billington, and Larry Billington.
