Kathleen Veronica Bradley was born January 12, 1949, in Pocahontas, IA, one of eleven children of Lawrence and Irene (Lang) Bradley. She graduated as valedictorian from Rockwell City High School in 1967, and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and French from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA, where she was the class valedictorian in 1971. Kathleen was united in marriage to John A. Schweers on June 1, 1973, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rockwell City. They welcomed three children.
