Jeffrey Alan Cheney was the son of Richard Don and Jantje Spoelstra Cheney. The family moved to the United States in February of 1974 and resided in the rural Deep River, Iowa area. He graduated from the Deep River-Millersburg High School in 1992. He graduated from Central College in Pella and received his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 2000.
He was married to Karla Lynn Grimm on July 27, 1996 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Emma, Carson, and Jack. They raised their family in Ames, Huxley, Iowa and Morrison, Illinois before moving to Victor in 2003.
Jeff was a partner and veterinarian at Farm and Family Veterinary, with locations in Victor, Brooklyn and Montezuma. He held a strong love for caring for animals and the relationships he has built with customers over the years.
He was a family man and an outdoorsman. He was an ardent supporter of Emma, Carson and Jack's activities and enjoyed helping them with their homework. He enjoyed the family trips to go hiking and camping in the Rocky Mountains, their recent trip to Disneyworld to celebrate Christmas last year, and the trips to Holland to see his mother's family.
Jeff will be remembered for the love of his family, for his hard work ethic, for his fun-loving sense of humor, and for being a genuine, loyal friend to many.
