Lewis Christopher Barbour of RFD #2, Meadowview, Virginia, died of acute pneumonia on September 10, 1937.
His Death Certificate lists his birthdate as March 3, 1897; thus, his age as
40 years, 6 months and 7 days.
His place of death is listed as Saltville, Washington County, Virginia, but Find A Grave forces nearby Smyth County to be listed for Saltville. His employment was listed as the Railroad. He was buried in the Family Cemetery on September 12, 1937.

On June 5, 1917, for his WWI Draft Registration Card, Lewis was 21 years old and single. He listed his birth date as March 4, 1896. His parents were also born in Hurt, VA:
C. C. Barbour and Mary E. (Doss) Barbour.
At that time he was a Railroad Laborer for Virginian Railway Company (VGN), Phenix, Charlotte County, VA--an occupation that he appears to have continued for the rest of his life. He was of medium height and stout build with brown eyes and hair.

On the May 23, 1910 Census for Worsham Mill Road, Staunton River Magisterial District, Pittsylvania County, VA, he was a Farm Laborer, living with his widowed mother, married 16 years, with 7 living of 8 births, and his six siblings:
