Gasoline Stove Explodes with Fatal Results.
Mrs. Hester Irwin, on West Main Street was badly burned on Wednesday morning by the explosion of a gasoline stove, while preparing her breakfast.
She was severely burned about the face and body, before assistance could be rendered, as she was alone at the time the accident happened. Neighbors, however, hearing the explosion and cries rushed in to her aid, and succeeded in putting out the fire in her burning garments, but not before she had been terribly burned.
Aunty, as she was familiarly called, has reached an age that is considered very old, and it is thought by the attending physicians, on account of her extreme age, that she will hardly recover. This is the first serious accident of the kind that has happened in Greenfield.
Since the above was in type, Mrs. Irwin died Thursday evening, at 10 o'clock, and the funeral hour is announced for Sunday morning, 9 o'clock, at her late residence.
